The last band preview for the Cheer Up Charlie's Saturday party. Phew. It's a local Austin trio that has been getting lots of hype and a strong following. Their record release show at Sagebrush sold out.
Surf-rock riffs, oddball humor, and warped Americana storytelling define the Austin band’s raucous debut...If Being Dead have a signature sound, it’s anchored in the sun-kissed harmonies and high-octane riffage of surf rock.
They say: "The shoplifting fantasy “Muriel's Big Day Off” abruptly segues from rollicking acid-pop harmonies to a smoky jazz-pop interval and back."
If the lineup is in order then they will be the closers for the day. Could be a fun way to end the day.
"Daydream" has some good shots of boating on Lake Austin.
This is a total 60s throwback. It's good. The video is odd.

KUTX plays them ALL the time. I think they were even an artist of the month last year. I don't think I can hear Muriel's Big Day Off again. :)
I like the other songs though.
